Is a rabbit the right pet for me?

Most of the time the answer is yes. However if you are buying for a small child, rabbits have very strong hind legs and sharp claws. If being held badly the rabbit can struggle leaving quite deep scratches across your arms. We wouldn't recommend a rabbit for any child under 7.

Rabbits live for between six and eight years, and can be kept outside in a hutch or indoors as a house rabbit. Watch out for any electrical cables, they can't resist them and will happily chew through telephone cables as well. Indoor cages are a must, there will be times when an over inquisitive rabbit is over helpful, somewhere to put them will be invaluable for peace of mind.

We only sell young rabbits. All our rabbits come from a local breeder and are all raised on Chudley's Rabbit Royale mix. When purchasing a rabbit from us we will insist you also purchase a six kilo bag of food to ensure their diet isn't changed. If you change their diet after this time, please do it gradually, if you don't the rabbit is likely to have severe diarrhea and may die. Greens should be introduced very gradually and not for at least two weeks after purchase. Fresh hay daily should be offered, the same for water.

Rabbits require two vaccinations, myxomatosis and V.H.D. Your vet will advise you on prices as these differ from vet to vet. Some vets will advise Myxomatosis jabs twice a year if there has been an outbreak in the area.

Rabbits can live alone, two or more females together or a male and female together... if you don't want a litter every 31 days get them neutered!

Given the opportunity, rabbits will show you what huge characters they have. They love to play with balls and toys and will become great friends with your dog or cat.

Please think carefully, the U.K. is a cold, wet country for most of the year. Rabbits will become bored and unfriendly if ignored other than to have a food bowl topped up daily. These are probably the most neglected pets in the U.K., treat them like a cat and get the most out of these bundles of mischief.
