Description - Fat tailed gerbils tend to be active for short periods of time during the day and then sleep for long periods. They like to dig burrows so it is important that they have a deep base layer of bedding in their home. Like gerbils, fat tailed gerbils like to gnaw so a glass tank is ideal for them to live in. Fat Tailed gerbils need to have a sand bath to bathe in to prevent their coat from becoming greasy. They like to shred their bedding material to make a nest to sleep in, this helps keep their teeth trimmed. Fat tailed gerbils are sociable animals but will also live alone and can be quite solitary. Fat tailed gerbils are very docile and rarely bite.
